Mission

Church architects should bring inventive solutions not thought of by the community. His preparation for service to the public, coming from education, personal searches and faith, combine to bring creativity to the client-church project.

My mission is:

  • To bring an intimate understanding of Christ-centered worship as the springboard of church planning and design, using knowledge of scripture for use as a symbol source.
  • To shape a space, which in and of itself, avoids mindless resurrecting old visions from the past that worked then, and fail to bring life to this community, and projects the spiritual values and feelings of the community to the world at large.
  • To build a reputation as an architect who cares; to gain the confidence of the religious community networks in Northern and Central Florida, such that when the need arises, McLaughlin Architect is the first to be called.
  • To continue to bring my services to a wide variety of denominations in the continuing search for creative approaches, and in the process have enjoyed these enlightening experiences with and have learned a great deal about the diverse human search for God.
  • To manifest the perception that it is possible for an architect to come to meet and to listen, as the community expresses its unique community and denominational directions and feelings, and to live and work with them throughout the design process, to project the assurance that those needs, so expressed, will be carried out in the design of the building, a manifestation of what a growing church needs to serve the congregation.
  • Finally, to envision a worship space that comes alive with a sense of mysterious Presence, capturing the Light of God through unseen openings that pierce the enclosure with natural daylight.
